Welcome to Carnegie Mellon’s university-wide Incoming Faculty Orientation, brought to you by the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty in partnership with the Office of the Vice Provost for Education and the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence and Educational Innovation.

This 2 day workshop is an opportunity to meet other new faculty and explore what Carnegie Mellon has to offer. We have designed the orientation program to help you learn about many aspects of your faculty role and to begin your journey in professional development at Carnegie Mellon University. In particular, the program will focus on supporting your success across teaching, research, and service. Our aim is to:

  • Provide practical information that will help you succeed in your new faculty role

  • Connect you with useful resources, from key university policies to professional development opportunities

  • Introduce the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence and its unique approach to improving instruction

  • Build our cross disciplinary community by connecting new faculty members to each other and to other faculty, staff, and leaders in key roles on campus.
